History and emerging Technologies are opposite ends of the same thread, or shall we say, opposite ends of the same arrow, this simile seems more appropriate as time only moves on one direction. I think this is the time for my favorite quotation..

"Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana."

Groucho Marx

US comedian with Marx Brothers (1890 - 1977)

So we are building Skiffs, but there are two main types of little vessel refered to as Skiffs, separated broadly speaking into the traditional definition and the modern.

Traditional Skiffs

Here is the Wikipedia link, which gives both the traditional definition of a skiff (a rowing boat) and the modern use of the word (high speed, light racing dinghy)

The 49er was developed from the 18ft Skiff which can be seen here in this video link

St Ayles Skiff

The St Ayles design created by Iain Oughtred for the Anstruther Fisheries Museum has become something of a phenomenon since the project's launch in 2010.

With one eye on the national community boating scene we were "early adopters" of the St Ayles skiff (our first two boats were also Iain Oughtred designs). Byker Belle was our first St Ayles with more to follow.
